141 OFFBEAT MUSIC DATE with
For our next collaboration with @offbeatmusicbar we are excited to host singer-songwriters BECK and Maya Aarohi, whom we've been following very closely for a while! These up and coming artists will play 2 sets after each other, giving us a short insight into their particular musical worlds.
Maya Aarohi has been writing songs to make sense of life since sometime in 2023.
After performing with Maltese music collective Karmaġenn, she began writing her own music, leading to her debut EP Bitter (2025). On this music date, Maya will be performing her songs as they were written, on piano, while sharing more about the feelings, conversations and Whatsapp messages behind the songs.
Beck, a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Malta, discovered her passion for music early on, starting with piano and singing, later teaching herself guitar.
In 2020, she began performing in local venues, focusing on perfecting her vocal style and merging it with piano and guitar to create indie soul, dark pop, and funk-infused tracks. Influenced by artists like Finneas, Olivia Dean, and Leanne La Havas, Beck delivers a unique blend of heartfelt vocals and soothing instrumentals.
Her debut single "Heatwave," a collaboration with Zack Walters in 2024, marks the beginning of her musical journey.
Beck also forms part of the band Ġujo & Shady Places as a vocalist
