Join us Tonight! 20th June at the Julian Manduca Green Resource Centre in Floriana as we celebrate four decades of environmental activism, education, and awareness from Friends of the Earth Malta.
Get ready for an evening of music that echoes our grassroots origins, with a splash of 80s spirit! Our line-up features: Karmaġenn, Mirage, and Bila.
Karmaġenn is a collaborative project by Noah Fabri with various musicians and artists from the scene. An album-story of the same name was released in 2019, an EP, Il-Ħsibijiet ta' Martina, in 2020, and the second album, Urbanali, in 2023. The loosely knit collective is currently preparing an EP with new material. The project's lyrics have consistently embraced leftist values and grounded themselves in the everyday struggles of workers and artists in Malta.
The story of Mirage began in 1977 and initially came to an end in 1987. In 2010, the band reunited and has remained active ever since. Originally a progressive rock band, Mirage underwent numerous stylistic and personnel changes over the decades. Their musical influences span a wide spectrum, ranging from classic progressive rock to electronic pop.
Our headliners for our 40th anniversary celebrations are BILA!
Caustic Hardcore/Noise Punk band BILA is characterised by high octane socially and humour charged bursts of energy in visceral and ragey, Maltese song form.
The trio started out towards the end of 2014 and later on released debut EP ‘Liba’ on cassette with Youth of Today, a small label from Venice (now re-released digitally with Malta-based KEWN records). This led to tours both in Malta and Italy, namely Venice in 2015. BILA has played multiple venues across Malta and at festivals such as Rock the South Malta, Sickfest and Farsons Beer Festival among others. BILA were also invited to perform in the annual ‘Malta Takes London’ event both in 2016 and 2017, at Proud Camden and Blundell Studios respectively. BILA had their first 7’’ release ‘Do What I Want’ on Canadian Imprint Kingfisher Bluez and KEWN records in June 2018 to great success and also opening for Kaiser Chiefs at Aria complex on August 30th 2018 . In late 2018, BILA released their EP Bestjarju on KEWN records and after which played multiple shows and a mini tour in the UK & Scotland in February 2019.
In late 2019 BILA had the opportunity to tour alongside Illinois-based post-metal band Staghorn across the American Midwest to promote the release of their EP ‘Deheb, Inċens u BILA’.
BILA are getting closer to releasing their long-awaited brand new album later in 2025 (produced by @petbricknoise’s own Wayne Adams).

We’re also teaming up with Tuff for a special pop-up bar during the event.
Come and celebrate the past, present, and future of environmental action with us.
All proceeds will go towards supporting the work of Friends of the Earth Malta.
